BIO:
Douglas L. McSwain has been a litigator, legal advisor, speaker, and writer in constitutional, administrative, civil rights, healthcare, employment, trade, and business law for more than 35 years. McSwain has been named and peer-reviewed as a “Best Lawyer in America,” “Kentucky Super Lawyer” and “Top Rated Lawyer” in labor and employment law, civil rights law, health care law, and first amendment issues, municipal and appellate litigation. Best Lawyers named him the 2019 “Lawyer of the Year” in employment law in central Kentucky. He is an experienced trial lawyer and communicator, and speaks or writes frequently on all aspects of healthcare law, employment, and employee benefits for healthcare providers, employers, businesses, accountants, insurance agents and brokers, lawyers, and judges alike. McSwain has presented on health and employment law topics to numerous business and professional audiences including the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and Commerce Lexington, The Society of Human Resource Management, the Kentucky Society of CPA’s, the Kentucky Judiciary Summit on Opiod Addiction, the Kentucky, Fayette County and Louisville Bar Associations, the Kentucky Medical Association, the Kentucky Primary Care Association, the Kentucky Academy of Family Physicians, the Kentuckiana Healthcare Collaborative, the UK College of Law, and the UK Medical and Public Health Schools. McSwain is a life member of the Sixth Circuit Judicial Conference, formerly served as President of the Central Kentucky American Inns of Court, and as Chaiir of the Join Local Rules Commission of the Eastern & Western Districts of Kentucky’s U.S District Courts, and as 5th Supreme Court District Bar Governor on the Kentucky Bar Association’s Board of Governors.
